Airbrush Make up
Applying airbrush make up techniques has become a favorite method among professionals. Even the amateur can get great results with good knowledge and a little practice. Like airbrush tanning and airbrushing nails, fantastic airbrush make up applications are possible with this technique.
Skin preparation is very important with airbrush make up. Use a preparation designed for the particular type of skin – dry, dry to normal, normal, oily etc. A quality foundation should be used for concealing blemishes and for darker areas, such as under the eyes. The pigment color should be carefully mixed in a separate bottle and placed in the airbrush cup on top of the unit (six to 10 drops is a good start).
Set the dial on your control unit to “12 o’clock” and try a bit of spray on a facial tissue to get a feel for distance and amount. Use circular motions about six inches from the face to get consistent results. The closer you hold the tip of the airbrush gun the more concentrated the pigment will be on the skin. Blush can also be applied with the airbrush make up technique.
If you are applying airbrush make up around the eyes, practice with just air to get a feel for the technique. Cover your eyes with a flat piece of material and close your eyes as well.
One of the great benefits of properly applying airbrush make up is the consistent coverage and color. Hand-applied makeup can sometimes appear “patchy.” Once you get some experience with the airbrush make up technique you should be able to produce consistent results for you and for others.
It’s easy to be intimidated by the idea of applying airbrush make up but most people are able to learn quickly.
People who have become experienced in airbrush make up technique encourage others to try it. It’s relatively new and can be a great way to enhance your appearance.
