Here are a few basics that every airbrush tattoos artist should know:

  • Airbrush tattoos stencils are made from a special film and are reusable. You should be able to get about 25 or 30 uses from each stencils before it should be replaced.
  • An airbrush tattoos are temporary and may last a couple of days or up to 10 days depending on where it is placed and how careful the individual is.
  • Make sure you are buying high-quality, non-toxic paints
  • Allow plenty of time for ordering and receiving your equipment and supplies. This is crucial when reordering stencils, paints etc.

There are several types of airbrush tattoos systems. Some are suitable for airbrush tattoos work and others are not. The external-mix brush is not usually used for detail work so it doesn’t fit well in this category. Internal-mix, single-action airbrushes might work well if they are of good quality.

The double-action airbrush allows the artist to control air flow and fluid flow separately. These are great tools but might take some practice and experience to get the best airbrush tattoos results. Suction-feed airbrushes pull paint or fluid from a container that is usually located below the airbrush gun. Gravity feed airbrushes use gravity to feed the paint to the hand unit, hence the name.

As you look for the right equipment for airbrush tattoos consider the airbrush gun to be the most important tool you will have. This must be comfortable in the hand and easy to control. Airbrushing tattoos doesn’t require a large amount of “paint” so you should may able to use one of the better guns that have the supply cup on the top. But if you require a larger paint supply consider a unit with a separate container.
